The party arrives in Anvilgard, where they report to Lord-Castellant Ephrem Vanhelm. The Stormcast informs them about a missing duardin ship that was transporting a shipment of chemicals necessary for the welfare of the city. He directs them to council-woman Morgan Kassan for details.
The PCs meet with Lady Kassan; she explains the dangers of the Searing Sea outside of Anvilgard, and of her fear that pirates might have attacked the missing ship, and stolen both the chemicals and the formula to produce them. To help them in their search, she has hired a mercenary captain, Theriel Kaltis, to accompany them on his vessel, the Blackfin. Kaltis believes that either the servants of Nurgle, or the undead of the Golvarian Flesh-eaters might be involved.
